CRITICAL SITUATION IN BEEKEEPING IN EUROPE
WE SUPPORT THE DEMANDS OF THE BEEKEEPERS OF FRANCE AND GREECE
Dear all,
The Founding Assembly of the European Beekeeping Association was held on February 10th. 2024., at which the European Beekeeping Association was established and the basic objectives of the EBA were declared, namely:
1. The fight against counterfeit honey that flooded the European market;
2. Struggle for the introduction of special subsidies per beehive in the name of
compensation for the improvement of the environment and pollination of
cultivated and uncultivated plants;
3. Fighting against the use of pesticides that are poisonous to bees;
The European Beekeeping Association expresses deep concern about the situation of beekeepers in Europe and the difficulties of beekeepers in Greece and France who have already taken measures to fight in the form of protests.
We believe that it is necessary to solve the difficulties in the beekeeping sector in Europe at the European level and through the agreement of all interested parties, and with that the EBA will take the first steps in that direction and turn to the European Commissioner for Agriculture, request a meeting, in order to find adequate solutions to overcome this difficult situation.
