The European Beekeeping Association (EBA) has submitted an initiative to the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Serbia, calling for an expert review of the status of apitherapy within the national healthcare system. The proposal focuses on exploring its potential role within complementary medicine, while ensuring clear regulatory frameworks, professional standards, and patient safety.
The initiative also emphasizes the importance of developing structured medical education and scientific activities in cooperation with key national institutions, including the Serbian Medical Society and the Health Council of Serbia.
The proposal has been supported by the EBA Scientific Committee for Apitherapy, highlighting the growing need for a coordinated, evidence-based and professionally supervised approach to apitherapy in Serbia.
