Dear Members of the B-THENET Network,
We are pleased to invite you to the European Beekeeping Event co-organised by the European Project B-THENET, theEuropean Beekeeping Association (EBA), and theSlovenian Beekeepers’ Association (SBA).
This three-day event will be held on 27–28–29 August 2026 at the heart of the Slovenian Beekeeping Association ( Location: Slovenian Beekeeping Association, Brdo pri Lukovici, Slovenia).
It offers a valuable opportunity for knowledge exchange, collaboration, and celebration of Europe’s vibrant beekeeping community.
The event is designed to provide beekeepers with the most up-to-date knowledge on best practices to address both emerging and long-standing threats to honey bees, while also fostering discussion on key policy issues relevant to the European beekeeping sector.

Thursday, 27 August
Afternoon session
- Plenary lectures on Tropilaelaps, delivered by leading European experts.
- Practical Workshop for Beekeepers: Best Practices for Varroa monitoring. Held at the Slovenian Beekeepers’ Association (limited spots, first-come first-serve basis).
Friday, 28 August
Morning sessions
- Plenary lectures on invasive vespids & stressors, presented by leading European experts.
- Event for Beekeepers: Free Distribution & Presentation of the Best Beekeeping Practices Manual: 101 Practices Adapted to 13 EU Beekeeping Contexts.
Afternoon sessions
- Policy dialogue on sustainable EU beekeeping covering generational renewal and gender balance in the sector, organic beekeeping and its regulatory perspectives, and the availability of veterinary medicinal products for bees.
- On-field demonstration for beekeepers: Best Practices on how to manage Vespa orientalis. Field excursion to Koper (limited spots, first-come first-serve basis).
Saturday, 29 August
- Technical Tours and Excursions: Explore Slovenian apiaries, cooperatives and innovative practices through guided field visits and on-site demonstrations (limited spots, first-come first-serve basis).
