On January 13, 2026, the European Beekeeping Association (EBA) held a webinar entitled “Fake Honey – A Fraud Beyond Borders”, dedicated to the growing problem of honey fraud in Europe.
The webinar provided a comprehensive overview of the scale, causes, and persistence of honey fraud, highlighting scientific, legislative, and practical actions needed to protect beekeepers, consumers, and genuine honey. Presentations were delivered by Prof. Dr. Dražen Lušić, Prof. Dr. Andreas Thrasyvoulou, and Dr. Juraj Majtan, covering the problem of fraudulent honey, shortcomings in current EU legislation, and concrete measures governments and beekeepers can take.
